NS AGAIN?!

I had a strange dream last night, in which an insufferably IRRITATING toad of a woman stopped me in the middle of a street in the middle of the night and told me I had to go for NS again!

That woman really really REALLY makes me think of Prof. Umbridge from 'Harry Potter'. She was from the government (ooh~ the GOVERNMENT) and she said that all 18-year-olds have to attend NS TWICE.

She even kept smiling in a rather sick and annoying way while she talked! I can't imagine someone who can talk in long, complete sentences while SMILING the whole friggin' time!

And me? It's really hard to control your emotions in dreams. So, I was...angry. Furious. Hulk-like angry.Which means...I WAS REALLY PISSED OFF, cause I was blabbing to her about having gone to NS for three days and getting exempted, not to mention receiving a certificate for having been exempted, but she refused to listen! (Uh, I REALLY did get a cert for being exempted, in real life, though I wonder how I remembered that little fact in a dream)

I amazed myself in the sense that I didn't burst and slap her face till it fell off her head. Part of my mind was like...'Ooh I'm surprised I'm not ripping her limbs apart with my bare hands'(the 'spectator' part), another part was screaming at me to turn big, green and mad (the dream-part), while the last was going 'You're not supposed to hit people!'(the rational part).

I just kept arguing my case and when it was really obvious that no matter what I said, I'd be enjoying another NS stint, I lost my mind and gave a really feral scream of 'This government really SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!'.

Oh well, just a nightmare. Hahaha. Though I did wake up and wonder if I really screamed in my sleep...

Yesterday's Events

Went out with Jia Wen for movie and lunch.

The movie was 'Yes Man'. And boy, is the movie good. It's better than everything I've watched recently. The story is kinda goofy, bout a man who says 'no' to everything, but turns into a man who says 'YES' and starts living a life to the fullest. I thought that it was a great movie. Many times, the entire audience burst into laughter at certain scenes. (Such as the dentures one LOL)

Though one shouldn't follow Carl Allen (Jim's character) and start saying yes to everything. It could lead to nasty nasty incidents, such as being mistaken for a terrorist. @.@

Lunch was at Zanmai Sushi, that wonderful place where Hiu Jian discovered lipstick on his glass. The food there is quite reasonably-priced, cheaper than most other sushi restaurants.

She shopped a little as well, buying some stuff. That was pretty much the day.

*************************************************************************************

Went for a yumcha session with Liang and Jia Yin at night. I fetched them! For the first time!

We went to Sri Melur. Where we talked about education, cruise ships and a lot of totally random stuff. (I bet that's what people talk about when they go out together anyway)

The roti tisu brought about a wave of diabetes-related jokes and teasing. Hahaha. Especially aimed at our friend Liang.

The two wanted to visit my house, so I brought them home. Jia Yin was very very worried, and she kept asking 'Sure can ah?'. And I'd tell her 'No, cannot' or 'If cannot you just stand outside la'.
No, I'm not a very reassuring kinda guy.

Went over to Jia Yin's house later, where Liang copied Heroes Seasons One to Three into her sister's laptop for her. Then we went back out and chatted for a while more before she went back into her house and we two guys went home.

A Korean Lunch

Went to the Korean BBQ place at Taipan today for lunch with Soon and Yong Wai. The name had 'Daorae' or something in it.

The experience was quite different from eating at BBQ Plaza. Here, the waiters COOKED for us. They even helped Soon out with preparing his share of the food. A little hard to explain what it was he did though.

The appetizers served were...varied. That's the word I can use to describe them. Some tasted nice, like the seaweed and the sweet potatoes fried in an egg covering, but some, like kimchi and a kind of pickled vegetable, were just not to my taste. The BBQ-ed meat was good, and when we felt that it wasn't enough, Soon ordered a plate of Ox's tongue...which tasted rather good.

We also ordered some other things like rice which came with a kind of pork rib soup, which tasted rather bland. The other soup, with assorted vegetables, kimchi, tofu and meat, tasted nicer. It tasted something like...asam laksa. LOL.

Even the tea was something different. Not green tea, or chinese tea. Wai said it was rice tea, and it certainly tasted nice! It kinda had the aroma of rice too.

We talked a lot of stuff about education and some dumb stuff which happened during the last two years, and Soon got himself a nice lecture from Wai too. Hahaha. It's all about the attitude, eh, Soonie? XD

After lunch, which didn't cost as hefty a sum as I had feared, we walked around Taipan for a while before heading to Leo's cafe for some gelato. We three shared, as usual. There, we talked more about relationships, and the things that would happen in the near future. Funny topics we pick huh? Well, we talked about DotA too. Hahaha.

We spent the whole afternoon there in Taipan! LOL.

Setapak

I went to Setapak today, with my parents, to have a look at the UTAR campus there, as well as learn up the route I have to take to arrive there.

LRT wasn't the big problem. Simply get down at Wangsa Maju, and I'm almost at the campus already.

The trouble would be getting the right bus...

Though I suppose the UTAR buses would go to the LRT station, so that shouldn't be such a problem.

The Setapak campus actually has the look of a campus, though it seems a little isolated from other places. The buildings resemble the ones at the Kampar campus. It's gonna be a chore during orientation to find out which building is which, and loads of other things besides. Gah...

Christmas...Spirit?

Went to Pyramid today with HGY and Yong Wai. HGY and I waited rather long for Wai, who had trouble with traffic jams and parking spaces.

We went for lunch at Sakae Sushi, following HGY's suggestion. The food was, well, Sakae Sushi. Hahahahaha. Quite nice la, though the food came a little too late for my liking.

Afterwards, we watched 'The Spirit'. It was like watching a comic book. (Well, it IS based on a comic book)

The fighting and some stuff were certainly exaggerated. The colors were not like...how real colors should look. They looked more...'comic-book' styled. It's a unique idea and gave this movie a different look than most.

Overall, the movie was only so-so, though the comedic elements certainly amused most of the audience, including my dour and critical friend HGY.

Movie over, we started to walk around. What tired feet I had...

We met up with Wai's girl, and went to get ourselves some McFlurries. My first time eating them. I know it's hard to believe, but it's true. Ate the Oreo McFlurries. It tasted quite nice too. Hahahaha. At least HGY influences me positively sometimes.

We strolled about for a while longer, while Wai searched for some nice shirts. After stoning about near the lion's head for some time, we left.

Yamx Yamx

Why is it yumcha anyway? Yumcha means 'drink tea', but Yew Tian and I drank 100 Plus, whereas Chian Wei drank cincau. No cha anywhere.

We just chitchat la mostly. Stuff about studying, driving, even games. And I do agree that people who like to put 'Xiao' or stuff similar to that in their game account names are weirdos. As Yew Tian said, they give the impression that they are 'lalachais' or 'lalamuis'.

Poor Chian Wei still has to struggle through daily college life. =)

Ah. Holidays are coming to an end pretty soon. Just a couple more weeks, and my degree course will begin.

Nuffnang advertises Guinness beer, but I drink Carlsberg.

What About Yesterday

Jia Wen came over to Subang Jaya in the morning for breakfast with Wei Yen. On the way home, she dropped by to give me...

gingerbreadmen!

She made them herself, and don't they look cute? Hahaha. They taste delicious too.

In the afternoon, I went over to SS15 to meet up with some friends. Firstly, I went to JS Cafe to meet Soon, David, Chee Wah and Wen Han. They were playing Left 4 Dead. It's a kinda survival-horror game, where players either fought zombies as survivors, or played as the Infected and attempted to kill the survivors. I joined in the game, and we played against one another. Haha. Soon was always my teammate, whether we played as Survivors or Infected. We lost every round, except one where we managed to split the survivors (the other three fellas and their AI-controlled pal) and take them all down. Hahaha. That was a hilarious round, not to mention another where they split up for some reason.

Once, Chee Wah a.k.a BigBubu leapt down from a roof as a big fat zombie, attempting to ambush us. I turned around, saw him, and blew him away at point-blank range! We were laughing so hard.

Soon, we changed games and played a round of -wtf mode DotA. My team won, cause I was playing Warlock. =)

HGY came soon after, so we went for lunch at Salmon Steak Cafe. Yong Wai also joined us there. Except for HGY and Wai, the rest of us ended up eating the same thing -.-

Later, David, Wen Han and Chee Wah left us. The remaining four of us went to FTZ for an afternoon of gaming.

We played a match of DotA where we lost, but ended up laughing until our throats hurt. Soon and HGY just kept doing stupid things and dying...and me, sitting on Soon's right, just laughed at their antics. Even the stranger on our team was amused, I think.

We played Call of Duty after that, where we stalked and killed one another in Free-For-All matches. HGY was at his best here, running around stalking us, and knifing us in our backs when we least suspected it. At least I got a spot of revenge by stabbing him four times in a row. Nyahahahaha.

Afterwards, we tried out Battlefield 2142. It was, again, a fun and funny session. We played normally, piled into mechs and attempted to destroy the opposition. Things got funny when one of us managed to take control of a jeep. Then, the rest of us would clamber in and go on a driving/shooting spree before taking a rocket and dying all at once.

Whenever an enemy mech appeared, we'd start shouting 'Gundam coming, Gundam coming!'. =.=

HGY just could not help it but to kill teammates. After a while, he started running around slashing and stabbing us, so I got fed-up and started to kill him whenever I spotted him. =P

We moved on to some Warcraft games after that, as well as COD again. Sadly there was no Left 4 Dead in FTZ's computers. Otherwise, we'd have played a lot more nonsense. Hahahaha.

In the evening, we piled into Wai's car and went to Pyramid for dinner. On the way, he stopped by a bakery to get some bread. He double-parked and went off. While waiting for him, a driver wanted to come out, so HGY(who was sitting in front) climbed over into the driver's seat and reversed the vehicle. Then, Yong Wai came out at that moment. He saw what HGY was doing, and for some reason, he went over to the front passenger's seat! HGY had climbed back into that seat, and when Wai opened the door with a rather confused expression, Soon and I couldn't help laughing out loud. We continued laughing even as Wai went back into the driver's side and drove.

When HGY asked Wai 'Eh, can you please turn on your lights ah?', Wai replied 'You la, why didn't you turn on the lights?' Which made us laugh again. Lol.

We wandered around Pyramid, trying to decide where to eat. Sakae Sushi was out, the line of waiting people there was so long! It seemd that every place was crowded, so we finally went into BBQ Plaza for dinner.

For once, I didn't do any of the cooking, leaving it all to HGY and Soon. We tried to get HGY to eat the lard, but he refused. I enjoyed the dinner, and the company. Haha. After that, we went to Yogur Berry for dessert. We ordered a set meal to share. When I mentioned it would seem a little weird for four guys to share from one bowl, Wai said, "Ya la, share with HGY sure gay la!'. Lol.

Later, he zha HGY by saying 'Who wants to share with you!?'. HGY was stunned for a moment. Not a very common occurrence.

The ice-cream was quite nice. So were the walnut balls and the 'Nemo Cake'. HGY ate the ice-cream at first, but when we told him it was made out of yogurt, he refused to take another bite of it! So weird la, that guy. He was trying to stress the 'Yogurt is the worst thing in the world' point to me, but it didn't work. Lol.

Wai sent us all to HGY's house afterwards, where I waited till Dad came to pick me up. Those two...played FSN on the PS2, where Soon got his butt kicked round after round. Hahaha.

Pavilion KL

I finally got a chance to visit Pavilion, at KL.

I went to the Subang Jaya KTM Station early this morning. And then, Soon told me they'd probably be very late in arriving (they meaning HGY, Hiu Jian, David and himself). He told me to walk over to HGY's house (damn far la!), so I thought, 'why not?'.

I had just crossed the road over the opposite side of Carrefour when he called again and said 'Ah, Zhen, you can start walking back to the KTM, we're coming now.'

Stupid fellas.

They came soon after. Thank goodness, I didn't have to wait too long.

Hiu Jian bought tickets for us. While waiting for the train, we talked a lot of rubbish. As usual.

The train ride wasn't that bad. Quite fast. And it wasn't too crowded.

We got down at Central KL. And realized yet again, that we should not trust HGY when it comes to directions! After all, he once led Soon and I on a 45 minute walk to Pyramid when we could have walked for 15 minutes only!

David verbally abused HGY almost all the way to Pavilion, during the walking sessions and the monorail rides. We occasionally joined David in insulting HGY.

After lots of walking, we arrived at Pavilion. The place was kinda cool, if a bit empty. Then again, it's supposed to be the place where rich people shopped. There were people walking around in suits too. Lol. And David and I wore short pants and T-shirts only. At least I wore shoes, whereas David wore slippers. But then again, he's a rich kid anyway.

We made it in time to the cinema, but sadly the reservations for our first movie was cancelled. So, we had to buy the tickets for 'The Day The Earth Stood Still', but we still managed to collect the tickets for 'Transporter 3'.

'The Day The Earth Stood Still' was ok ok only la. The alien Klaatu was quite...human, and yet kinda alien. Hahaha. Weird...

Gort the big bad robot was kinda plain, in my opinion. But then again, this ain't about Optimus and his Autobots, eh?

It's basically just a movie about armageddon. With a very, very, very, VERY ANNOYING KID. Soon was saying, "Damn, just kill the kid la! Why won't the kid die!?"

After the movie, we went down to the lower floors to eat. Oh yea, we didn't really look at any of the stuff sold there, cause I doubt we could afford most things anyway. Hahahaha.

We ate sushi again. =.=

The whole restaurant was empty, except for us. As usual, we talked rather loudly and complained about a few things (this, not that loudly).

After that, it was back to the cinema for us. If I'm not mistaken, I saw cousin Shyan's cousins there, with their parents. They were present at the wedding dinner, mass and tea ceremony during the weekend, so I'm pretty sure I recognized them correctly.

Oh, it has been a continuous gag everytime we go to the toilet, where we would tease Soon about him nearly entering the females' toilet once. Hahaha. Without fail, every trip to the toilet would result in any of us saying to him, "Soon, that toilet la!", while pointing at the females' toilet.

Today, it was my turn to be ridiculed time and again. For some reason, my mind just kept wandering, so I kept going to the wrong escalators! Let's say we're going up one level. For some reason, I head for the one that's actually coming down from the upper level. Lol. Didn't take them long to start joking and teasing me about it.

"Transporter 3" was pretty much the same as the earlier movie. Kinda mediocre. Only cool thing was Frank Martin, as usual, the star, the transporter himself. He kickes @$$ all the time.

The female lead was really, REALLy odd. And the story didn't really help too. Too...plain. Like it's been recycled over and over from other action movies. Gah.

We retraced our steps after that, and boarded the KTM again.

On the way back, we were squashed together like sardines. Soon promptly hugged HGY's arm, and put his head onto the latter's shoulder. HGY's stare was seriously funny, emotionless, yet it seemed he wanted to kill Soon. David was laughing away at that. Hiu Jian teased them, as usual. We also talked as much as we could to forget the feeling of being crushed. Soon and I recalled the time we went to a bank with Yong Wai, and he was carrying his wooden sword, and the guard came out with a gun...well, I think I mentioned it before in a previous post.

We got home safely. I waited for the bus alone. Stupid RapidKL bus system. I waited for almost an hour just for one bus! Got home rather late as a result.

Wedding Weekend

Cousin Nileey got married over the weekend.

Saturday:

We had a wedding service in the morning, at the Church of the Holy Rosary, in KL.

Nice church? XD

I had the honor of being the Lector for the service, which means I was the reader for the First Reading. Mom and Dad said I read well. =)

Cousin Shyan as the MC.

Mom, cousins and aunt.

Wedding service was, well, a wedding service. Nothing really different from the previous two cousins' wedding services.

The married couple.

Group photo.

After the service, we had lunch in a nearby hall. The lunch was pretty good. Grandma wasn't feeling so well then, so Dad took her to a clinic.

Went home in the afternoon, and that was the day.

Sunday:

We went to Uncle's house early in the morning, for the Tea Ceremony and the games. Finally, I got to meet up with the rest of my cousins.

The stuff to be used for the 'games'. Hahaha. Some are for eating, some for 'exercise' (hence the yoga pictures), some for drinking and some just for plain silliness. The guys were quite sporting when it came to this.

The games proceeded rather well. There was even a contract for Kelvin to sign in. Hahaha. Clause 1: Yee Lin is always right.

You can guess the rest...

Lots of people there.

After that, Dad, my brother and I went for mass. Later on, we went home for some rest before going to the wedding dinner.

Hei hei, coincidence or what? The wedding dinner was held at Sunway Hotel, in the exact ballroom where SMKSU had it's 2008 year-end prom! Hahahaha.

We can be a band. =)

Grand place.

Sunway Lagoon.

Lady-cousins.

Cousin Anthony and uncle.

After some time, cousins Thomas and Anthony, my brother, and I went to a room where cousin Nileey was. The rest of our female cousins where there as well, just hanging out there, I think. There was a professional photographer there too, and we all started taking photographs. He directed us all in postures and stuff. Hahahah.

The female cousins. And cousin Nileey in the centre.

Acting cool. Hahaha.

The guys' turn. Mostly we had to act serious, but it was quite hard to control ourselves from laughing sometimes. We usually did, after the photos were taken.

We went to the ballroom soon after. At first, we had to sit with our respective families, but the adults, ever so understanding, swapped seats all around, so that we young people got to sit together! Thanks a lot =)

The guys.

The stage.

The seats of honor!

Before the newlyweds came into the hall, they played a slideshow of photographs of Nileey and Kelvin, from their birth till now. It was well done, and some of the photos were really cute. Hahaha.

After the newlyweds cut the cake, dinner was served.

Dinner last night was pretty good, compared to the rather crappy food served during prom. We talked a lot and had quite a lot of fun during dinner.

Later on, they had the champagne-pouring ceremony.

My cousin picked up the cork after Kelvin blew it out of the top of the bottle!

After toasting the newlyweds, dinner was resumed. Other people had started doing toasts of their own, and while they were quite loud, I bet our table was noisier...

We, the young people, took up our cups of Chinese tea, and loudly shouted 'Yam-Seng!'. Of course, we held the call out as long as we could, and as loudly as we could shout. Even our parents came over to join in! We purposely chose Chinese tea, even though most of us had glasses of alcoholic drinks. Damn fun! Hahahaha.

After dinner, our parents, uncles and aunties had some fun of their own...

...by playing around with flowers!

Mom and Dad!

Uncle's family.

One of the 'new' married couples. Hahahah.

NO, NOT HIS GIRLFRIEND AH. Cousins only...

The dinner ended at around 11.15 p.m. So where did we go after that?

Red Box!

Hahahah. It's as though I had no exams today. One of my cousins is having an exam today too...hahahaha. She's also a UTAR tutor, but she went along anyway.

Give the mic to Anthony at your own risk!

They sang Mandarin songs. I didn't sing, cause I didn't know how! Hahahah.

Even the uncles sang!

I went home at 1 something in the morning. Couldn't stay too long, exams exams.

Exams are over! Programming, finished!!!!!

Ordination Mass

Yesterday evening, my family went to S.F.X Church to attend an Ordination Mass. It was also the feastday of Saint Francis Xavier, after whom the church is named.

I haven't been to any Ordination Masses before. Oh, and Ordination Mass is held when a priest or priests are ordained into the priesthood. Yesterday's Mass was for Reverend Father Alvin Ho, a Jesuit.

There were many priests and religious who attended yesterday, including Archbishop Murphy himself, and more than a few familiar faces among the priests. The 'regulars', Fathers O.C Lim, Larry Tan and Simon Yong were also present. They were seated on the altar together. All of them Jesuits (which means they are from the Society of Jesus). Hahahaha.

The Mass was quite a good one, though the Choir was not perfect, and the sound systems were not really that good. Otherwise, the atmosphere was nice, and as the Archbishop said it, 'prayerful'. It was quite a solemn ceremony, but the priests were all smiles when they were hugging Father Alvin to welcome him into the priesthood.

I won't mind attending another Ordination Mass. Haha. Too bad they don't occur frequently, due to the lack of new priests nowadays...

When I Had Fever

When I was much younger (not yet into secondary school, or maybe in the Form One), I used to have peculiar dreams every time I had fever.

Some of my friends might know about it, and I've lost track of how many times I might have talked about this, but I suppose there are a couple of you out there who haven't heard it.

Well...

Sometimes, I get nastier fevers, fevers that won't break in a couple of hours after I get them, so Mom sometimes took the day off to take care of me. (I know, I'm such a baby)

So, I usually lie down on the cold marble floor in the living room, my head on a cushion (or was it a pillow?). Mom would leave a cold and damp towel on my head to try to cool me down. I take medicine too, but the towel is usually used when the medicine doesn't do its work quickly enough. Surprisingly, the towel usually works better anyway. Leaves me sweating out the fever in just a few hours.

So, when I'm lying down there waiting for the fever to break, I usually fall asleep. Rest, you see, helps a lot.

And so, I dream.

The dreams have always been the same. I dream of myself, just me, standing on the edge of a volcano mountain's peak. Everything there is hot, of course, and the 'dreamer' himself feels the heat, but differently. Always the same start. Me, standing on the precipice. This dream came only when I had fever.

If you think I'm making this up, I have to say, no, I'm not. It's true, and I don't forget or imagine dreams that happen more than ONCE. And if you're really really REALLY not convinced (though why I would concoct a big fat bloggie lie, I don't know myself), then don't read on.

Okay, I've digressed enough.

So, I just stand there, with no clue as to what is happening, and yet, not feeling out of place or even fear, until a man appears. Always the same man. And yet, I don't know what he looks like. Don't know his name, his background, nothing at all about him. I don't even know how he appears.

I just know it's him. He comes up to me, and we'd argue. I can't even remember much of what we argue about, but mostly it's something to do with us being on opposite sides, against each other. I kinda got the impression we had always been enemies.

And then, he'd get so angry that he shoved me into the volcano.

I always woke up immediately after that. Then I would not be able to fall back into sleep. Sometimes, I did fall asleep again, and had no more dreams. The fever usually went away some time after that.

However, there was one particular time, when I had the dream, that things were different. Everything was the same up to the point where we both started to argue. I refused to join him (that much I remember correctly) and instead of losing and falling to my 'death' like the many times before, I shoved him into the volcano. Oh yeaa. Talk about finally winning.

I woke up right after that, and the fever had broken.

I never had that dream again, not even when I had a fever.

Well, there's one of the only little spots of weirdness in my whole life. Hahaha.
